Fraud Alert: Fake Cashier’s Checks

We're seeing a surge in fraudulent cashier's checks using Priority Trust Credit Union's old HMFCU routing number and logo. If you receive a check that seems suspicious, don't cash or deposit it.

How to spot a fake:

  • Checks using outdated routing numbers or names
  • Unexpected checks in the mail
  • Checks tied to prizes, sweepstakes, or job offers you didn't apply for
  • Anyone asking you to deposit a check and send money back

If you're unsure whether a check is legitimate, bring it to one of our branches or call us at 713-970-6200 before depositing it. We can verify if it's real.

A reminder about your personal information:

Priority Trust will never call, text, or email you asking for your account number, PIN, password, or Social Security number. If someone claiming to be from the credit union contacts you and requests this information, it's a scam. Hang up and call us directly at 713-970-6200 or visit our website.

Stay alert and protect yourself. If something feels off, it probably is.
